Belle Starr
is a color mystery. She has the markings of a dun (dorsal
stripe, shoulder shadow, zebra stripes, face mask, and ear tips) but
I was not aware that Fury carried the dun gene. I think this
coloring is just an over expressed creme gene (buckskin) as I know
Fury carries that gene.

As
Belle Starr is getting older she appears to be turning grey although
she seems to change color with every coat change. She gets
grey hairs and then loses them. This winter I was sure she was
grey but when she shed out this Spring I could not find a grey hair.
She is almost the color of a wild primitive horse. I am not
aware of any loose Przewalski stallions roaming California but she
sure does have that color. Of course she does NOT have that
body style as she is a classy, refined, and feminine little filly.

She has a gorgeous Arab head and tipped ears with
large eye. And like her Mom is a big mover. In body
style she looks a
lot like her half-sister Tiffany Blue AA who is featured on my
riding horse page. However she is going to be shorter than
Tiffany - I expect Belle Starr to mature at 14.2 to 14.3hh at the
most.

Belle Starr should excel in the working Western or
Hunter disciplines
and would make an elegant mount for a lady or youth rider. Her
Dam was my unstoppable trail riding horse for many years. She
had amazing endurance over all sorts of ground - flat, sand, hills,
and mountains. I could ride her over any sort of ground
barefoot (within reason of course) and never have an issue. If
Belle Starr has only half of her Dam's ability she would make a
great endurance or competitive trail horse.
