Maestro AT

JY Blackwings x HR
Raffons Melody
1999 Black Gelding
Maestro is the first horse to greet
you when you drive in the ranch and will not leave your side in the
pasture. He is as close to a lap dog as a horse can get - there
is no getting away from paying attention to him when he can reach you!
From the day he was born Maestro has
had amazing floating movement and I have been waiting for the day to
start riding him with deep anticipation. He took a while to
mature mentally, so we did not start to train him until he was four.
Then he got injured by a neighbor's dog and we gave him time off to
heal. It was a very bad cut from the hock to the fetlock down
the front of his cannon. Amazingly it missed all the tendons.
The scar is obvious but not as bad as I would have thought from the
cut - I think due to the fact that we kept him in pasture throughout
his treatment and recovery. Walking on it does wonders for
horses. We have been trail riding him off and on for the last
year and he is doing extremely well.
Maestro's gaits are powerful,
flowing, light and elegant. When he moves forward you feel a lot
of horse under you. His walk is amazingly fast and free
moving. He easily keeps up with his fast walking sister Cajun
Spice AA. I would expect Maestro to excel at dressage and
endurance.
